Spartak Moscow MakeMassimo Carrera as Permanent Manager

The reward for doing well in the caretaker manager spell at Spartak Moscow seems to have been a permanent job for Massimo Carrera.

The Italian has been temporarily being in charge of the club since the resignation of Dmitri Alenichev. The sudden unavailability ofAlenichev forced the club took placeCarrera in charge until a permanent solution was found.Carrera has managed to see his team suffer only two dropped points in the last four league encounters. Even though there was the disappointment of being unable to qualify for the group stages of the Europa League, Spartak Moscow can now focus on the league campaign.

The recent appointment represents a mercurial rise for someone who was appointed as an assistant manager only back in June.Carrera has very little experience as a coach but he was in charge of Juventus for a period of four months not too long ago. Spartak Moscow may be taking a big gamble by appointing an inexperienced manager, but so far, he has done all the right things at the club.Carrera has learnt from the best in the business after he has had an extensive playing career with the top players at Juventus. He went on to be the assistant manager at the club, while also serving as the assistant boss under Antonio Conte with the Italian national team.

However, he is 52 years old and this will be his first major chance to prove himself as a first team boss. Following the fantastic start to the season that they have made underCarrera, Spartak Moscow are second in the Russian Premier league table. They have taken seven points from the opening three games. They are up against Lokomotiv Moscow this weekend and the opposition have managed to win their first game of the season last weekend.
