The manager of Spartak Moscow, Valery Karpin has said that his club will certainly look into the possibility of bringing in the Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Igor Denisov. Igor Denisov is regarded as one of the best players for the Russian national team, but he has not played for Zenit St Petersburg for a while due to a contract problem. The player has been demanding wages that would equal the likes of Hulk and Witsel. Both these players were signed in the summer transfer window on extremely large contracts, but the midfielder is of the opinion that he should be entitled for a similar contract being the captain of the team.
However, Zenit St Petersburg have refused to offer him a new deal, which resulted in the player going on strike. He has not played for the club for quite a while, despite being the best player in the Russian league last season. Spartak Moscow have opened the possibility of giving Denisov an exit by saying that they would be interested in bringing the player in the summer. Even though Denisov has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season, he is yet to score. Karpin has said that if a player wants to come Spartak Moscow, then the club will be looking into doing exactly that because he is a great player.
“I think that the Denisov’s transfer is not impossible. But in principle the transition from one club to another is likely only if the player wants to join us as he reportedly wants to change his current team. I’m often asked about him. I think he can be a vital addition to our squad. He was the best player in the Russian championship last season and we will see how things change over the course of next few weeks,” said the Spartak Moscow manager.
